Rhode Island Reds. Hamburgs. Muscovy Ducks. These exotic breeds are among the more than 75 to be displayed at Old Home Week’s annual Poultry Show. Viewers will have the opportunity to see poultry that just won’t be seen anywhere else including purebred chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons, and turkeys, all of recognized breeds, to be judged by national standards.
The poultry show has been a part of Old Home Week since its inception, and while some of the original farm breeds still exist and are shown, many have been replaced with the more exotic breeds – some of which wouldn’t exist if not for the purebred breeders who participate in the show. More than 500 individual entries will be shown and judged on their unique attributes, making this one of the largest poultry shows in the Maritimes.
