Cute and cuddly yet informative and interactive is the only way to describe this year's 4-H contribution to Old Home Week. Visit the Animal Farm to see and meet pet ducks, dairy calves, sheep, rabbits plus hens and baby chicks all raised and presented by Island 4-H members. Showing and judging of these animals will take place on 4-H Day, Wednesday, August 15. A new addition to this year’s Farm is the Mystery Farm Challenge, where participants get to guess what kind of animal it is - but by only touching it by a hand. Educational brochures will then be available for more facts on the animal in question. 4-H will also be hosting its Drop-In Centre which showcases woodworking, clothing, food, and arts and crafts also created by local members. Creating a true all-ages environment, 4-H will also have sand boxes with toy farm machinery and colouring tables for the little ones. |
